Mr. Pennington

Mr. Pennington (referred to as Mr. Harrison in the book) is a professor of medieval history. He is the father of Allie Pennington and cares for her and wants her to be happy, despite being an eccentric parent at times.

Personality

In the books Mr Harrison grew up in the Bronx. According to Ellie, he completely hates nature and ignores their family cat, Tig, which means Tig loves him. He loves shouting out the answers of Jeopardy with his wife and he is somewhat laid back enough to ignore the warnings and inflate the raft at the gas station. He tries to talk about boys with Ellie, but Ellie doesn't want to. Mr Harrison also goes for runs with Ellie because he is told by the doctor he needs to lose ten pounds. When he goes for a run with Ellie, he uses his glasses with what Mrs Harrison calls his dork strap.

Notes

• In the book he is writing a book about a sword. Ellie would eventually take that same sword to the park and hand to Will during his face-off with Marco, thus revealing herself as the Lady of the Lake.
